four more sleeps...

Til school goes back! Only a few more days left of the summer school holidays.. I love the summer holidays, love the endless days, the long warm nights and the kids playing outside until it gets dark. Once school goes back it is all about earlier nights, earlier mornings, routine, school lunches, work, homework and washing the school uniforms.

But there is some good things about back to school, such as 'me' time, shopping without 'can I have this?', kid free coffee's and lunches and looking forward to having my ritual fortnightly pedicure :)

end of an era..

Charli and Mirani with their Graduation certificates

Charli and Mirani dressed to go their their year 6 graduation dinner

Last year was Charli's final year of Curtin Primary school. It really is an end of an era for Charli and for myself.. Charli went through Curtin Primary school from Kindy to year 6. Along the journey she had many ups and downs (fortunately more ups than downs). Charli met her best friend Mirani in preschool and their friendship remained strong throughout their years at Curtin and I am sure they will stay friends for the years to come. I also got to meet the most wonderful group of ladies through the school and I am sure we will remain friends for a very long time yet!

Charli will be going to high school this year and after many sleepless nights wondering what school to send her to, we made our decision to send her to a private school. We also decided to send Mikaela there also. I will really miss Curtin Primary, but I feel in my heart that we have made the right decision. Mikaela is a resiliant little girl and I am sure she fit in straight away and make some new lovely friends quickly too. Charli is very excited at the prospect of starting a new school - to make some new friends and start the new chapter in her life afresh..

I am feeling nervous about all these new changes (I don't cope with change very well) but I am sure that once we get into our new routines it will get easier.
Here's to this year and for all the kids that are starting new schools ~ good luck and hope all goes well for them.

happy new year

Happy New Year everyone! I hope 2009 is good to you all and brings you lots of good health and happiness!

I thought I would start the new year with a new blog. This blog is by invite only, I just feel more comfortable knowing the people who read my blog. So hope you guys can swing by occassionally to check up on us - to see what is going on in the Rickett world...

It is school holidays at the moment, and I am enjoying some time off work and spending time with the girls. We haven't been doing a whole heap - lots of lounging around in our pj's till lunch time!

Just keeping it short and sweet for the first post... Will add more when I am feeling a bit more inspired.
Till next time,
